About this event

Contra Dancing is a lively, sometimes brisk form of social American folk dancing, always played to live music typically featuring fiddles, guitars, keyboard, mandolins, banjos, and bass. Two dancers face two other dancers to form sets all the way down the hall. Dancers progress to each couple in line and repeat the dance. A Caller is the person who teaches the steps and footwork to everyone before the dance begins and then calls out the steps during the music so everyone dances in unison.

No partner needed. Bring soft soled shoes to keep the wooden floor in good condition! Water is provided; snacks to share at the break are always welcome. Beginner dance lesson begins around 7:10 PM. We dance Sept. through June on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays (unless otherwise noted). Cash or PayPal. Sliding scale: $10 Students; $15 Friends; $20 Supporters. Hope to see you on the Dance Floor!!

SPECIAL SALE NOTE: Special "Age 25 and Under" sale for all evening dances in Sept. and Oct. ~ Only $10 AND a friend gets in for FREE (both must be age 25 or under)

*** Church Parking Lot is available right next to the church or park on the street.

*** Please enter on W. Laurel St. and Do not park in Moravian University Lots!
